THE SENT WORD

TEXT: Mathew 24:34-36

PREACHER: Pastor Bodunrin Timothy

Mathew 24:34-36

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

We are in a world filled with uncertainty. Everything moves and changes according to circumstances and happenings within and outside our immediate environment. But one thing that remains constant and immutable is the word of God.

The word of God does not need validation neither does it need to be updated. It is ever potent (Hebrew 4:12 NIV)

Hebrew 4:12 NIV

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

THE WORD AS A PERSON

The Word is the Person of Jesus Christ (John 1: 1-2, 14)

John 1:1-2, 14

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

John 1: 14

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The scripture is spirit driven and therefore carries power, authority & honour (Psalm 138:2)

Psalm 138:2

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

THE EFFICACY OF THE WORD

Capacity to Create (Genesis 1:3)

Genesis 1:3

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Capacity to Heal (Psalm 107:20)

Psalm 107:20

20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Capacity to Transform (Romans 12:2)

Romans 12:2

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Capacity to Comfort (Psalm 119:50)

Psalm 119:50

50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
