THE POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS

TEXT: Philippians 2:9-11

PREACHER: Pastor Bodunrin Timothy

9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Introduction
Names carry significance, but there is one name that stands above all others—the name of Jesus! This name is not just a title; it is power, authority, salvation, and victory. Today, we will explore what it means to call upon the name of Jesus and why it carries such divine authority.

The Name of Jesus is Above Every Name
Paul tells us that God highly exalted Jesus and gave Him a name above every name.
In Acts 4:12, Peter declares, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
This means that no other name—whether of kings, rulers, or spiritual forces—compares to Jesus’ name.

Every Knee Shall Bow to His Name
The Bible says that at His name, every knee shall bow—in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.
This means His authority extends everywhere:
In heaven – Angels and heavenly beings worship Him.
On earth – People must recognize His Lordship.
Under the earth – Even demons and Satan must submit to Him.
When we speak the name of Jesus with faith, darkness flees, chains break, and miracles happen!

Every Tongue Will Confess That Jesus is Lord
Whether willingly in faith or on Judgment Day, every person will acknowledge that Jesus is Lord.
Romans 10:9 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
His name is the key to salvation, and when we confess Him as Lord, we enter into eternal life.

Power in His Name for Believers
Jesus Himself said in John 14:13-14,
