TEXT: Isaiah 54:4
PREACHER: Pastor Bodunrin Timothy
INTRODUCTION:
The parable of the wedding banquet in Matthew 22 reveals the kingdom of heaven as a prepared place for prepared people. In verse 11, the king notices a guest not dressed appropriately — symbolizing those who claim a place in heaven without spiritual readiness.
Families must understand that salvation is for everyone in the household because Family salvation is God’s desire [Acts 16:31]
Serve God as a Family. Families should be examples in the church and community. God’s plan for every home is peace, purpose, and His presence. But when families shift their focus away from God’s commands and toward selfish desires, they invite destruction. [Joshua 24:15]
Eden Was a Model of God’s Design for the Home. It was the first earthly home created by God — a perfect environment for man and woman to live in harmony with each other and with God. However, it also became the first home that lost focus on heaven, Why? They listened to another voice. [Genesis 3: 1-4]
* Eve listened to the serpent (Satan) instead of God’s Word.
* Adam, instead of leading, followed in disobedience.
* Their shift in attention from God’s voice to the devil’s deception caused the family to fall.
When the home stops prioritizing God’s voice — through the Bible, prayer, and godly counsel — it opens the door to lies, pride, and rebellion.
THE CONSEQUENCES OF LOSING HEAVEN’S FOCUS
1⃣ BROKEN FELLOWSHIP: They hid from God. Sin separated them from divine presence. [Genesis 3:8]
2⃣ BLAME AND DIVISION: Adam blamed Eve; Eve blamed the serpent.
The home that once lived in unity and love turned into a place of shame, guilt, and conflict.
3⃣ LOSS OF THE HOME ITSELF: God drove them out of Eden (Genesis 3:24). The first home was shut out from God’s presence because it lost focus on holiness and obedience [Genesis 3:24]
FOUR (4) KEY LESSONS FOR FAMILIES TODAY
🔑¹ GUARD THE VOICE YOU LISTEN TO: Don’t let the serpent’s voice (media, ungodly influences, or bitterness) enter your home.
Be careful of what you allow into your home — it could destroy your spiritual focus.
