JESUS AS THE KINGDOM OF GOD

TEXT: Matthew 22: 1–2

PREACHER: Pastor Bodunrin Timothy

INTRODUCTION:
What is the Kingdom of God?
Many see it as a future paradise or a distant hope. But Jesus revealed something deeper: He Himself is the Kingdom of God in person. Wherever Jesus is present, the rule, reign, and presence of God is active.

The Kingdom of God centers not on laws or land, but on a person—Jesus Christ.
Where Jesus is honored, the Kingdom is present.

John 14:9
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

The Kingdom begins when we recognize and receive Jesus as the rightful King of our lives.
Jesus Proclaims the Kingdom

Mark 1:15
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Jesus didn’t just talk about the Kingdom—He brought it near.
Every miracle, every healing, every act of mercy was a sign that the Kingdom had arrived through Him.

Jesus Demonstrates Kingdom Authority.
He had authority over nature (calming storms), sickness (healing the blind), sin (forgiving sinners), and death (raising the dead).
These weren’t just miracles—they were Kingdom acts, signs that God’s reign had broken into the world.

Luke 11:20
20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

In our own lives, when Jesus rules our hearts, He brings freedom, healing, and peace.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING THE KINGDOM OF GOD
Matthew 22:1–14

“For many are called, but few are chosen.” — Matthew 22:14

Everyone wants to go to Heaven, but not everyone is ready for the Kingdom. In the parable of the wedding feast, Jesus uses the image of a royal banquet to teach us that God is inviting all people, but only those who meet certain spiritual conditions can enter and remain in the Kingdom.

1. REPENTANCE — A Turned Heart

Matthew 4:17
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

–Jesus began His ministry with a call to repent. The Kingdom of God is holy; it cannot be entered with an unrepentant heart. Psalm 24: 3-4
