PREACHER: Pastor Timothy Bodunrin
Psalms 121:1–2
121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, whichever made heaven and earth.
Help from high places means divine intervention that comes from God when human help fails.
Many times, in life, there are situations where:
Human strength fails
Connections cannot solve the problem
Intelligence is not enough
The Bible shows that God specializes in helping people at critical moments as evident the life of:
* Joseph in prison (Genesis 39:21)
Genesis 39:21
21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
* Daniel in Babylon (Daniel 6:22)
Daniel 6:22
22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: for as much as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
* Esther in the palace (Esther 5:2)
Esther 5:2
2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
Sources of Help from High Places
1. Help from God Himself (Isaiah 41:10)
Isaiah 41:10
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
God is the ultimate helper.
When God decides to help a person:
* doors open
* enemies surrender
* battles end suddenly
Divine help compresses time and struggle.
When God helps a man, what would have taken twenty years can happen in one day.”
2. Help Through Men
God’s blessings often come through people He positions in your life
* Pharaoh helped Joseph
* Mordecai helped Esther
* Boaz helped Ruth
3. Help Through Divine Power
Sometimes help comes through supernatural intervention.
Example:
* Red Sea opened
* Prison doors opened for Peter
* Fire came down for Elijah
